July 2008 Ice and Fire Summer Stav Camp with Ivar Hafskjold, Graham Butcher, Alex Fell-Bowers, Tim Abbott and Tony Brush

The 2008 camp was held in North Curry in Somerset not far from Glastonbury. It was a privilige to have Ivar Hafskjold present and teaching and we were joined by his son Earling at the weekend. A good deal of martial arts training took place covering: staff, sword, spear and a good deal of practical self–defence training. There was also training in Galdre Stances, health and healing, mythology and practical runelore. The weather was variable but generally acceptable for training, the only time we got wet was on a visit to Glastonbury and the weather closed in on us as we approached the top of the Tor. August 2007 Ice and Fire Summer Stav Camp with Graham Butcher, Alex Fell-Bowers, Tim Abbott and Josh Calhoun

The 2007 camp was held at Scobb Farm in Kent which provided a delightful and natural setting for the event. The programme included smithying for the first time thank's to Josh Calhoun's presence. Each day began with the stances at 8am and concluded with the second set around sundown, teaching was also given in the various forms of the galdre stances. There was also training in basic rune lore and the principles of Stav. Martial arts training covered staff work, swords and axes and unarmed training using the 18 animal exercises.

June 2007 Mid-Summer Warrior Course with Graham Butcher, Tim Abbott and Tony Brush

The weather was good and it proved to be a highly enjoyable weekend for all concerned.

Training covered stances, staff training and use of animal inspired exercises based on the runes. This led on to advanced staff work and practical self defence applications of the animal exercises. There were also talks on the key concepts of self-defence and the ethical bindrune. Time was also found for some introductory axe training.

The Saturday evening provided an opportunity for feasting, music and fire dancing. Thanks to all who supported it, and to Tim and Tony for assistance in teaching and Ronni for the catering.

October 2006 Halloween in the Woods Course With Alex Fell-Bowers. This was a well attended course where those present had the opportunity to learn the basics of survival and practice various practical skills including: Fire lighting, shelter building, use of knife, sax and axe and water collection and camp cooking. The weather was very good for the time of year and it proved to be an enjoyable end to the 2006 camp season.

The 2006 camp was held at Braziers Park in Oxfordshire. The first part of the week was devoted to a foundation course for beginners which covered stances, basic runelore, staff exercises and other esential Stav training

At the weekend Ivar Hafskjold was present and was able to give direct teaching to all those present, a rare and valuable opportunity.
